Meet Lyn at Grace & Louie Booksellers

Upon meeting Lyn, owner of Grace Louie Booksellers, you’ll instantly know you’re talking to someone passionate about books and their store.

An avid reader all her adult life, Lyn always had a vision of owning a bookstore. When a corner shop in Emerald became available, Lyn instantly said that’s my bookshop, and with support from her husband opened Grace & Louie in October 2023.

An interior decorator in a past life amongst other achievements, Lyn has fitted the shop with treasures she found on Facebook. She has beautifully refurbished unique pieces to create a colourful bookstore that is expertly laid out, appealing to all ages, and with interesting little nooks making it a place you just want to spend time in.

Lyn joined an organisation called BookPeople, a 100-year-old independent Bookseller to help her navigate the ins and outs of running a bookstore that also provides some support with promotional material. 

She acknowledges while some people prefer to read books on their Kindle or listen to audible books depending on their situation, physical books showcase their presence & personality and become talking points. Books also teach kids to get off their screens.

Lyn has lots of ideas to grow the bookstore including a Book Club starting soon and a Loyalty Club. U3A has also shown interest in reading stories at Grace & Louie to primary students after school on school days.
